The enchanting folk legend Jo Freya is coming to two Somerset villages this February with her new folk act The Jo Freya Trio – comprising of Jo and the fantastic Neil Ferguson and Jude Abbott from Chumbawamba.
Fri 4 February, Hornblotton and Sat 5 February, Holcombe
The new show will mix poignant Jo Freya classics, such as Roses, with the rye social commentary and political musing of Ferguson and Abbott. This is folk music with edge and depth, with songs selected from the best of traditional and contemporary sources. Jo’s own popular back catalogue will mix with comedy and wry observation to make a truly relevant and entertaining evening.
The Director of Take Art’s Rural Touring programme Sarah Peterkin said, “I am really looking forward to seeing Jo Freya again. Coming from a pioneering background in folk and acoustic music, Jo has played with some of the greatest line-ups in new and traditional folk music, such as Blowzabella and Token Women. In this new trio, she is joined by the folk group who love to use music to talk (and laugh) about history, politics and philosophy. I know they are certain to be a smash with Somerset audiences.”
Jo Freya Trio in Concert will be appearing in Hornblotton on Friday 4 February. The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets can be purchased for £8/£6 from the promoter on 01963 240282.
The second show will be at Holcombe on Saturday 5 February. Tickets are priced at £7 and can be purchase by calling 01761 232038.
