A family from the city chase the rural idyll in a new show from the award-winning Pentabus Theatre, appearing in five Somerset venues during the first two weeks of February.
The show aptly called Tales of the Country will be performed in Bruton (Sat 5 Feb), Wootton (Tues 8 Feb), Hatch Beauchamp (Wed 9 Feb), Kilve (Thurs 10 Feb) and Clapton & Wayford (Fri 11 Feb). It tell the story of city dweller Brian, as he moves his family from a terraced house in north London to a rambling grange in rural Herefordshire. Pentabus create the worlds of both North London and Docklow Grange through skilled physical comedy from a versatile cast of five, who play not only Brian and Jane Viner and their three children, but their friends, locals and other colourful characters, the family dog, and even some chickens. Tales of the Country is a heart-warming chronicle of the pleasures and pitfalls that await a family from the city chasing the country dream.
Sarah Peterkin Director of Take Art Live said, “Pentabus Theatre has developed a reputation over the past 35 years for high quality touring work championing issues and stories that strike a real chord with their audiences. Tales of the Country is no exception and should go down a storm with Somerset villages.”
