Folk it up with Hickman and Cassidy

This February put the spring back in the year with a fantastic fiddle and folk concert from the astonishing Dan Cassidy and James Hickman, winners of the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award.

This talented double act will be performing in three Somerset venues over the first weekend of the month, including Appley (Thurs 3 Feb), Kingsdon (Fri 4 Feb) and Othery (Sat 5 Feb).

James Hickman and Dan Cassidy (brother of the late Eva Cassidy) are a newly formed transatlantic folk and roots duo, bringing together modern folk trends with traditional folk music from the US to the UK. This season they will be entertaining Somerset audiences courtesy of Take Art rural touring.

Virtuosic fiddler Dan Cassidy grew up in Maryland, USA but is now based in Iceland where he also regularly tours with his own Swing Quartet. James Hickman is a wonderfully unique vocalist and guitar player brought up in Shropshire on a diet of folk and bluegrass. James also tours nationally and internationally with Uiscedwr.

Take Art Live Director Sarah Peterkin said, “A wonderful evening with two accomplished musicians, a treat of new and old folk music interspersed with lots of amusing anecdotes from this friendly duo.”
