Bio

Katey joined Take Art in May 2008 at the beginning of the Step Change project. During this time she has worked on the Children’s strand, the Young People’s strand and the Adult’s strand, leading on the Young people’s strand.

With additional funding from Youth Dance England Katey’s job has fallen outside of the Step Change project and allowed her to develop an already well established Youth Dance provision for the county. This includes the development of a county youth dance company, a youth dance advocacy group and a youth dance performance platform.

Katey trained professionally at London Contemporary Dance School and has danced with Pretty Good Girl Dance Theatre since July 2005 performing in small projects, two national tours and performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2009. PGG is as educational dance company and Katey leads regularly on youth workshops alongside tours. She is also a freelance dance teacher throughout Somerset, teaching a range of dance styles including Street Dance, with a real passion for accessing hard to reach young people through dance.
