The Show

As ever the broken and the beautiful and all their friends are invited.

  • Liv Torc will host with the power to mute you all at will!
  • To celebrate the end of our lovely Zoom shows we have a headline spot from the legendary John Hegley (Seriously, JOHN HEGLEY!)
  • The Word/Play group will perform
  • The Spork-Up Emerging South West Artists will to share a poem
  • There will be an open mic with spots available for anyone with an original poem to share (book with Liv early to get on the bill)
  • We will be making an audience poem live on the night
  • Bring your own shakers, if you like, and adorn yourself with a Rainbow Fish theme, If you are bored and want an excuse to dress up… so we can create a ‘we are all shaking together’ atmosphere

The show comes out of Take Art's 'performance poetry on prescription' Word/Play project, which helps adults with mental health or learning challenges find new ways to talk about their lives.

About John Hegley

Poet, comedian, musician. Scandalously talented, marvellous joyful fun, like a good deed in a naughty world - one of the finest poets we have ever known.

Born in Newington Green, Islington, North London. Now in neighbouring borough of Hackney with partner, artist Mel Brimfield.

  • Keats House poet in residence, 2012
  • Arts Council of England funded project working with four fellow poets, taking children to art galleries to delve into, and respond to art works. 'Putting You in the Picture", 2019
  • 12 books - most recently New and Selected Potatoes (Bloodaxe Books)
  • Workshops in prisons, hospitals, schools
  • Touring and festival presentations with music, drawings, verse and small amount of baroque dance
