Our Take Art creative early years team are busy working alongside early years educators and children in two Somerset settings this academic year. As we carry out this project, we are considering our overall research question: How can we foster young children’s creativity in the current early years education sector? Part of our work is to spend time researching with early years educators away from their settings - here we are at the Take Art office exploring and capturing the possibility of clay!

Parents at a Somerset setting are involved in a unique opportunity this term - taking part in a songwriting music project alongside their child. They are working directly with experienced songwriter/musician Sadie Fleming sharing ideas, thoughts and feelings about their young child’s life, play, and family. Sadie then writes and performs a unique song for their child – a song from the parent to their child. This Sing Our Story Project has been developed by Groundswell Arts over the past 15 years and has run across early settings and primary schools in London, Ireland and the Northeast of England. Take Art has now joined forces with Groundswell Arts to bring this bespoke song writing opportunity to the Southwest!
