BARNfest is a small-scale, two-day festival showcasing theatre made in Somerset and the South West.
The Rainbow Fish Speak Easy at the Cosy Club on the Wednesday evening, is just one of many exciting events happening across the festival. This supper and a show combination promises to be a memorable evening filled with poetry, comedy, and open mic slots. We are delighted to welcome Scottish stand-up poet, performer, comedian, publisher, musician and broadcaster, Elvis McGonagall, who will be performing a feature set as part of the event.
The Rainbow Fish Speak Easy, hosted by the 2019 BBC Somerset poet in residence for National Poetry Day, Liv Torc, is fun, funny, tender and tremendous; with tips for successfully navigating the human condition in all its luminous, ludicrous and lunatic dimensions.
The show comes out of the Take Art's 'performance poetry on prescription Word/Play project, which helps adults with mental health challenges find new ways to talk about their lives. Along with an open mic, there will also be a short performance from the Somerset Word/Play group.
