Rainbow Fish Speak Easy

A Love-In Against Lonliness

For the broken and the brilliant (and all their friends)

Rainbow Fish Speak Easy is a bimonthly spoken word poetry night for Yeovil, with open mic slots available for anyone with an original poem to share. The event, hosted by Liv Torc, is fun, funny, tender and tremendous; with tips for successfully navigating the human condition in all its luminous, ludicrous and lunatic dimensions.

Along with an open mic and a short performance from the Somerset Word/Play group, each Rainbow Fish Speak Easy features an exciting poetry headliner.

In February we will be running a Valentine's Day special, A Love-In Against Loneliness, with special guest Jonny Fluffypunk. Stand-up poet. Give-up guitarist. Sustainable Nihilist, Jonny is by turns surreal, daft and oddly moving, his work is both a celebration of the beauty in the mundane and an elaborate cry for help.

"Acute social observation, intricate humour, surreal fantasy, sharp irony and wit… and England’s most pretentious moustache." The Independent

"Sublime…well-crafted, tender and life-affirming. Highly Recommended." FringeReview

The Rainbow Fish Speak Easy has been launched as a community poetry event to give writers, thinkers and word lovers a place to meet, watch, applaud and share their poems.

The show comes out of the Take Art's 'performance poetry on prescription' Word/Play project, which helps adults with mental health challenges find new ways to talk about their lives.

Magic Hat for donations but basically you can watch for free and no one will mind.
