Rainbow Fish Speak Easy

For the broken and the brilliant and all their friends

The loveliest spoken word poetry night in Yeovil, starring Liv Torc and Birdspeed. Open mic slots available on request.

Rainbow Fish Speak Easy is a bi-monthly spoken word poetry night for Yeovil, with open mic slots available for anyone with an original poem to share. The event, which is hosted by Liv Torc, is fun, funny, tender and tremendous, with tips for successfully navigating the human condition in all its luminous, ludicrous and lunatic dimensions.

Along with an open mic, feature slots and a short performance from the Somerset Word/Play group, June's headliner will be Birdspeed, a British born Barbadian raised poet, spoken word artist, writer and dancer. Her artistry weaves social commentary with her West Indian cultural heritage, resulting in a dynamic performance style.

A multi slam winner and rising star of the spoken word scene, Birdspeed has been impressing audiences across England and US cities New York, Los Angeles and Philadelphia. Her notable performances in the UK include WOMAD festival and The Bristol Old Vic. Later in the year she will be representing Bristol at the Hammer and Tongue Slam Championships at the Royal Albert Hall and also competing for the New York grand slam title. We are delighted to welcome her to Rainbow Fish.

As ever The Rainbow Fish Speak Easy is a community poetry event and everyone is welcome and welcomed. No ticket required just turn up and pay what you feel at the end.

Our wonderful venue, The Hub in Yeovil, comes complete with a cafe serving hot and cold drinks, snacks and hot food.
