Spring Forward Dance Festival 2020

Now in its 15th year, Spring Forward Dance Festival is back with an unrivalled offering to the entire Somerset dance community, featuring groups of all ages and backgrounds showcasing their work on a professional stage, over three separate platform events.

Spring Forward 2020 will continue to offer even more opportunities for dancers and dance audiences. As ever all three platform events will feature exciting dancers and dance groups from across Somerset and beyond, all making vital and engaging work they want to share with their peers and local audiences.

DAY ONE: Friday 6 March


Tacchi Morris Arts Centre, Taunton

The platform at the Tacchi Morris Art Centre in Taunton will showcase community dance groups of all ages and genres. These events will also offer groups the opportunity to screen dance and digital pieces.

DAY TWO: Sunday 29 March


The McMillan Theatre, Bridgwater

In a twist from the usual programme, the Spring Forward McMillan Theatre platform will be hosting the South West regional U.Dance platform and groups from across the region can apply to perform, all competing to go to the national U.Dance finals is Glasgow.

DAY THREE: Tuesday 28 April


Octagon Theatre, Yeovil

The last event at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil will feature over twenty groups and performances from young dancers and community groups of all ages. Enjoy a kaleidoscope of choreography, including Jazz, Contemporary, Street Dance and Dance Theatre, featuring the nationally acclaimed Somerset Youth Dance Company, local school groups, youth dance companies and Somerset dance schools.

Alison Lord, Dance Director at Take Art, said “We are really excited about this years Spring Forward dance festival. Not only will we be showcasing the work of dance groups from across the county and the SW but we will also be working closely with PDSW on the regional U.Dance platform.Last year saw us successfully introduce the inclusion of dance groups of all ages as well as dance and digital. We are really looking forward to seeing what the groups may have to offer us at this years platform.”

    U.DANCE 2020 is a national dance platform showcasing and celebrating the best of UK youth dance. It takes place through competitive regional heats, concluding with a grand final in Glasgow in July. This year Take Art and Spring Forward are proud to be hosting the South West regional platform.
