​Welcome to our new season of events and activity here at Take Art and throughout Somerset.

Take Art is incredibly pleased to announce that the organisation has retained its Arts Council National Portfolio Funding for 2018-2022. This award of £641,700 (£160,425 per annum) will enable us to continue to grow our vital work within the county, bringing quality performances and life changing creative opportunities and experiences to Somerset people and communities.

A pioneering project designed to bring theatre to young children in rural areas today announces the six companies selected to make up its inaugural touring programme. The Hopper scheme, which is being trialled in Somerset and Surrey, is aimed at bringing theatre to areas of low arts engagement.

Take Art is very excited to announce that our very own Jane Parker (experienced Early Years Music Practitioner and the Project Manager of Soundwaves Extra) has been appointed the South West mentor for a pioneering new qualification for music practitioners working in the Early Years.

Somerset Arts organisation Take Art, in partnership with Surrey Arts and China Plate, has received £92k from the Arts Council’s Strategic Touring Fund and £24k from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation for the Early Years regional Theatre project Hopper, focusing on Somerset and Surrey in 2017/18.

Take Art is seeking to appoint an experienced Project Manager for Hopper, our new Early Years Touring Project. Part time 18.5 hours per week for an initial one year contract, up to £25,000 pro rata or £13,000 annual freelance fee.
