Somerset has come alive with festivals in the summer sun, we’ve probably seen you at some! The wonderful Clap Clap Circo have performed at three festivals in July and we’re looking forward to wrapping up summer with some dance in August.
Coming from our prized national dance project that aims to improve access to contemporary dance in rural spaces, the Rural Touring Dance Initiative, we are excited to present a wonderful show called Olive Branch from Vanhulle Dance Theatre.
This outdoor dance show will tour to East Quay, bringing a mixture of acrobatics and martial arts-inspired choreography to our audiences, exploring the power of teamwork in the face of environmental collapse. We love bringing these outdoor shows to our friends at East Quay who have an amazing programme of events in the heart of the coastal town of Watchet.
In September we welcome back Good Habits, our joyful folk-fusion duo that sold out a run of shows in Somerset last year. They’re performing this time in Marston Bigot, near Frome. They will be touring again with us this year, reaching all corners of the county so if you can’t make this one, there will be other opportunities.
We are also excited to present up and coming comedian and theatre maker Scarlett Smith with her comedy show Any Objections? which takes a humorous look at the wedding industry through the eyes of a jobbing musician. She will have returned from her first Edinburgh Fringe this year with this show; we love supporting young local(ish) artists on the first stage of their careers.

The new Take Art brochure listing shows for August-December will be sent out soon, look out for that in local amenities or request your own copy so you can read further about what we’ve been up to and what we have planned for the Autumn.
