Take Art is a new partner in the European project RIOTE (Rural Inclusive Outdoor Theatre Education), funded by Erasmus and working alongside organisations from Italy, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and Devon.
The aim of the project is to bring together outdoor theatre companies from across Europe to share skills and ideas, developing a theatre skills sharing programme, learning from each other and developing new theatre methods.
This phase of the project, RIOTE2, has an additional new focus on setting up rural touring networks and Take Art is delighted to have been invited to become a partner to share our expertise in this area.
Our specific role is to develop a rural touring handbook suitable for cultural managers from other countries, containing a practical guide on how to support rural promoters to put on shows, advice for touring theatre companies on what to expect when performing in a rural venue and support to cultural managers who might wish to create a rural touring network in their area.
In 2019, Take Art will work with the Devon based theatre company Broken Spectacles and will host a one-day conference on 29th May at Dartington to celebrate the project and to disseminate its findings. We will launch the handbook at this event and will be inviting rural touring colleagues from across the country.
The handbook will also be available through the Take Art website. Stay tuned for more updates as this project develops.
