Northern Harmony returns to Somerset

15 April 2016

This unique vocal ensemble led by Larry Gordon has garnered a global reputation for their varied ethnic singing styles. Now on their 16th European tour, the 16-strong singing group has a wide following amongst choirs and singing groups from across SW England.

Transcending the traditional definition of choral music, expect everything from hearty and ultra bright Bulgarian 'hard voice' to the equally powerful, but darker and more sonorous Georgian timbre; from the rich, mellifluous South African style, or the wild and unrestrained American shape-note sound and quartet gospel, to delicate, pure, early music tones.

These brilliant young singers will be performing four nights this month in four Somerset villages:

Monday 18 April, St Mary’s Church- Cossington
Tuesday 19 April, All Saint’s Church – Kingsdon
Wednesday 20 April, Roadwater Village Hall
Thursday 21 April, St Mary’s Church – Chilthorne Domer

These performances mark the end of a very successful Rural Touring season in Somerset. Sarah Peterkin, Director of Rural Touring, Take Art says:

‘A wonderful 4-night tour from Northern Harmony brings a close to a fantastic season of rural touring in Somerset.  Audiences have been bigger than ever so a huge thanks to all the volunteer promoters who have worked so hard to make every event a success. TTake Art are looking forward to working with you all again in the Autumn when we will welcome another amazing group of touring companies to perform in our village halls.'
