SPARSE

23 May 2019

SPARSE is a brand new project which started in September 2018 with arts organisations in Lithuania, Estonia, Romania and Italy.

Across the UK we are very lucky to have some amazing rural touring schemes which bring top quality theatre, dance and music in to local communities, giving people a chance to see shows in their village halls that they would normally have to travel into larger towns to see.

SPARSE is bringing the knowledge of these schemes along with knowledge from similar schemes in Norway and Sweden to work with these arts organisation in the partner counties create their own rural touring schemes working with local promoters from the villages.

This project is funded by Creative Europe and just one of three that are currently receiving funding from the EU for an Arts project

At the beginning of May five promoters from each country along with the partners came to Cornwall to meet each other and learn about how rural touring works. They met with local promoters and artists. Attended the Carn to Cove menu launch where the promoters get to see what shows are on offer for the upcoming season.

Sarah and Ralph from Take Art have visited Italy and Romania to meet the promoters, see the venues that will be used and pass on their knowledge. Claire and Imogen from Carn to Cove have been to meet the Lithuania and Estonia promoters.

You can find out more about the project on it's website www.sparse.eu

Below is a film that the Italian partners AMAT have created showing their experience in the project.
