28 May 2019

Take Art is offering a limited number of bursaries to support a new cohort of students living in the South West who wish to study this acclaimed theoretical and practical part time course from September 2019.

The Certificate for Music Educators (CME): Early Childhood is run by MERYC-England and Centre for Research in Early Childhood (CREC) The course is a nationally recognised qualification validated by Trinity College London.

The aim of this national qualification is to raise the skill levels of the Early Years music workforce across the UK and is ideal for freelance and /or peripatetic musicians working, or wishing to work, in Early Years.

The CME, which takes 1-2 years to complete, offers a flexible, part-time, distance-learning qualification in early childhood music and benefits from direct contributions from Dr Susan Young, Nicola Burke, Zoe Greenhalgh, Alison Harmer and Jane Parker, all well-known and highly successful early childhood music educators and researchers.

All students are assigned a regional mentor, who works closely to support them throughout the course. Jane Parker, Early Years Music Lead at Take Art, is the South West mentor.

Professor Chris Pascal (Director Centre Research for Early Childhood) and Gary Spruce (Trinity College London) both highly rate this ground breaking course:

Gary Spruce: ‘Students are very well-supported by highly-skilled and very experienced staff who have national and international reputations in the field of early years education.’

Chris Pascal: ‘The mentoring in this course is of the highest standard with excellent results. I believe all involved should be congratulated on creating and delivering an outstanding course which will make a significant contribution to enhancing the quality of music education for young children.’

The course costs £1,500 with the option to pay in monthly instalments. To make it more affordable, Take Art offer a limited number of £300 bursaries for our South West students, subject to references and successful interview.
