The Iranian Feast: a very relevant story

07 March 2016

"I saw The Iranian Feast last night and loved it. It was a funny, heart-warming, powerful story that brought tears to my eyes. An ordinary family share a great love for life and food whilst outside a political regime threatens. Now more than ever, The Iranian Feast is a play for today", says Sarah Peterkin, Director of Rural Touring at Take Art.

The Iranian Feast is Farnham Maltings' latest touring production, and we are thrilled to bring it to Somerset on 17 & 18 March at Porlock and Langford Budville village halls.

This is a story of a family working out how life will be in the future. One that is surprising, uplifting and a celebration of being alive; a celebration of the similarities of family life, no matter where we live and our shared humanity. We sit in their living room with them and experience a family in crisis desperately trying to cling onto what is so dear to them. The show includes traditional Persian food prepared by Abbas, his wife and daughter with help from their friends and neighbours. Going in the pot are fresh herbs, spices, sweet vegetables - and Eli’s mother’s secret ingredient. We are invited and gathered to a family celebration and share a small taste of Persian supper together. This poignant show is suitable for all ages and guarantees to stay with you long after you leave.

“It is without a doubt one of the most thought provoking and yet also entertaining performances we have seen in ages" - Audience member, Robertsbridge Village Hall
