Congratulations to Take Art’s Director of Early Years, Gina Westbrook, who has been awarded the Life Time Achievement prize at South Somerset District Council's Gold Star Awards.

Take Art is very excited to announce that our very own Jane Parker (experienced Early Years Music Practitioner and the Project Manager of Soundwaves Extra) has been appointed the South West mentor for a pioneering new qualification for music practitioners working in the Early Years.

Take Art, Surrey Arts and China Plate are looking for submissions from theatre makers to take part in an exciting two-year pilot project that will create opportunities for young children to experience high quality performances in Early Years (EY) settings in Somerset and Surrey.

Somerset Arts organisation Take Art, in partnership with Surrey Arts and China Plate, has received £92k from the Arts Council’s Strategic Touring Fund and £24k from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation for the Early Years regional Theatre project Hopper, focusing on Somerset and Surrey in 2017/18.

Take Art is seeking to appoint an experienced Project Manager for Hopper, our new Early Years Touring Project. Part time 18.5 hours per week for an initial one year contract, up to £25,000 pro rata or £13,000 annual freelance fee.

On Monday 5 September the Take Art Early Years team met up with artists, advisors and researchers from the Early Years Elements project for a skills sharing day, including Dr Karen Wickett from Plymouth University, who will be carrying out research on the project.

Jane Parker, our new Early Years Manager, will be picking up the conductor baton this May and leading the conversation on the importance of music for the under fives.

We are looking for freelance visual/digital artists to work with under fives and the early years workforce in Somerset.
