The Elements Skill Share was a brilliant opportunity for everyone involved with the project to experience the practical elements and sharing of ideas, discussing how creativity meets the Early Learning Goals and supports reflective practice.
Using the rich and open-ended theme of elements, six multi-disciplinary artists (Richard Hughes, Lucy Lean, Hannah Lefeuvre, Peter Margerum, Deborah Westmancot and Howard Vause) will be delivering activity in reception and pre-school settings. The artists will all be working reflectively to allow the children to lead the experience.
"It was a really fun and exciting day, getting creative and learning from each other. I think we have all enjoyed working with different materials and are excited about how young children are going to engage with this work." Gina Westbrook, Director of Early Years at Take Art.
Elements is a practical action research programme of Early Years' creativity, kicking off in Wells and Taunton areas between October and the end of March 2017.
The project research is being conducted by Dr Karen Wickett from Plymouth University, exploring how creativity can support EY managers to develop creative practice and links to the arts. They will be mentored by Take Art and the SCC Early Years advisory team.
