A new academic year has started as the crisp autumn leaves begin to fall from the trees and the nights start to draw in. We are pleased to bring you the latest updates and news in this newsletter.
Little Big Dance
We're getting ready to welcome our cycle two commissioned artist Xenia Aidonopolou to Somerset to showcase her new multi-sensory dance show, Skydiver. The piece has been commissioned by the Little Big Dance programme to challenge the industry and rethink how dance is made and presented for very young audiences.
The newly created piece has just been finished and was showcased to industry partners and young children only a couple of weeks ago. We are excited that as part of the national Little Big Dance Tour, Skydiver will be coming to The McMillan Theatre on Sunday 18 November. Tickets are on sale now! For more information, click here.
Our Turn
Our Turn sessions have returned after a relaxing and recharging break. We have welcomed a new assistant dance artist to work alongside our lead artist and volunteers, and you will be pleased to know there is still an endless supply of tea and biscuits! It would be lovely to encourage a few more people to come along and enjoy a session.
You may have seen a sneak peak of our latest marketing campaign on our social media pages over the last few weeks. If you haven’t, make sure you like/follow our pages! We can be found on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
Our Turn sessions are designed to help people living with dementia and memory loss. We understand that it can be a little daunting when the word dementia is used but rest assured the sessions are fun, engaging and just a lovely place to be on a Monday afternoon.
If you know anyone who would enjoy coming along and joining a lovely group of people for a few hours, whilst enjoying a dance session, social time and the all-important tea and biscuits, please urge them to get in touch. We can be reached by phone on 01460 249450 or email ourturn@takeart.org
Here is a snippet of our latest flyer, if you would like some to share in the wider community, please get in touch.
Spring Forward
As much as we wanted to announce Spring Forward 2024 dates to you in this newsletter, we need to keep you waiting a teeny bit longer. We are in the final stages of confirming these with the lovely venues that we have previously worked with, and once all the application criteria have been finalised we'll shout it from the rooftops! Please keep an eye on our social media pages and our website for the all-important link to apply.
Our lovely Marketing Manager has created a beautiful film showcasing the brilliant performers of 2023 to celebrate the release of Spring Forward 2024. If you spot our Spring Forward video online, you know it has all been announced and applications are open!
