Led by Sandy Akerman, an extrelemy experienced workshop facilitator, the training will focus on the creation and use of Forum Theatre to explore stories and issues aroound mental health.
The training is being delivered as part of Word/Play, a two year initiative that brings together theatre, spoken word and digital media to create change. It's for people in Somerset: individuals, groups and communities. Anyone, in fact, who wants their voice to be heard, to feel better about themselves or to make a difference in their lives.
One of the key features of Word/Play is the training and employment opportunities it offers for emerging and established theatre practitioners who live and work across Somerset and the South West region. Through this, we hope to increase employment opportunities for the future.
Later in the year we will be recruiting a team of forum theatre practitioners to develop a project that helps groups of people across Somerset to bring about behavioural change and explore coping strategies for the tough issues they face.
