Last year we were able to award over 20 modest grants to Somerset-based artists to develop their performance projects. This year we hope to make a similar amount of small awards with the fund being particularly targeted at graduate, young and emerging artists, although more established artists are also welcome to apply.

The seed fund aim is to support the development of artists’ skills and/or initiatives that create the potential for new employment and work opportunities. As seed funding, it is precisely that: a modest sum of money that may help to unlock other resources.

What does that mean in practice?

You may be a graduate or performance practitioner wishing to go on a training course or placement;
You may be a company looking for a small investment to pump-prime your project or to act as match funding for other applications;
Or you may need help with hiring rehearsal space to create new work.

The main thing is that you require seed funding either to increase your professional skills or to act as a catalyst for the creation and/or development of new work. We have tried to make the application process as straightforward as possible. As we anticipate that the call on the funds will be greater than the amount available, inevitably, there are certain criteria that applicants must meet.

The deadline for this first round is Friday 15th November.
