Throughout 2012-2013 Somerset Youth Dance Company (SYDC) have excelled both as a collective and individually, developing into a stronger, more professional youth dance company, training as performers, chorographers and dance artists.
In July they achieved national success in the Youth Dance England U.Dance Festival in Leeds and have also performed at both the county and regional
youth dance platforms, as well as the Glade stage at Glastonbury Festival.
On an individual level two members of SYDC, Rose Hadfield and Georgia Johns, have been selected to represent England as part of Youth Dance England’s new National Youth Dance Company. Other members continue to achieve places at Dance Schools & Universities with ex-members now at LIPA, Stella Mann, Urdang, Laban, Roehampton, DeMontfort & Bournemouth.
Katey Leader, Director of Dance at Take Art, said, “It is so exciting for me to witness the next generation of young dancers develop into intelligent, professional dance artists.”
Audition for SYDC
SYDC runs classes in both Bridgwater & Yeovil and successful members will attend a weekly session at their nearest location.
Auditions will take place on Tues 17 Sept at The Octagon Theatre, Yeovil and on Thurs 19 Sept at Bridgwater College Academy.
