What’s grey, has four legs and a trunk? A mouse on holiday. :)
Having had a ridiculously busy summer of ‘22, we’re being a bit more mellow this year. Please cross reference with the Cultivate newsletter to find out about Chill on the Hill in August and read on for other activity across Somerset in the coming weeks.
In the Pipeline
We’ve joined forces with several other companies and organisations in Somerset to produce a guide for performing artists and freelance creatives in the county to know who they can go to for different types of support, for example: who can offer advice on funding applications or who might have rehearsal space available?
We’ve nearly completed the document, which will be available to download from our respective websites.
We’ll let you know as soon as it ready to download from the Take Art website.
Expression of Interest Call Out
Evelyn Bonella, a Somerset-based writer and theatre-maker, performed an extract of her new play, The Wrong Colour Blue, at BARNfest last year. She’s currently looking for a project manager and director, and writes:
"Following on from the success of the R&D of my One Woman Play The Wrong Colour Blue I’m now looking to tour fringe venues this winter and the festival circuit in 2024. I’m looking for a project manager who can assist me with my next Arts Council application through access and ongoing requirements. I’m also looking for a director to bring this production to a fully immersive easy to travel piece of theatre.
I’m open to all suggestions and this will shape the project application in terms of days etc. Contracts to be discussed and will be union rate. My previous application was some very strong research work into themes of neurodiversity and brain-injury, the full script is available to be shared. As tech will be required it’s still partially a work in progress. Please email evelynbonella@gmail.com I look forward to hearing from some very talented theatre makers."
Nikolai Demidov Course
Jack Price is running an online evening class studying the work of Nikolai Demidov for 5 weeks from September 26th 2023 on Tuesday evenings from 6 PM-9 PM GMT on Zoom.
The course will cover some foundational acting lessons and dive into Demidov’s actor training work. It is designed to give an actor an overview of Demidov’s transformational work and will include elements from the Master's programme Jack recently set up at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Nikolai Demidov was a psychologist and acting teacher who taught at the Moscow Art Theatre. He also edited the book “An Actor Prepares" by Stanislavsky. He challenged Stanislavsky’s system and developed a holistic system which can produce transformational results.
The discounted course fee is £221.00 for 5 sessions. The class size is limited to 6 people so places are limited. Email Jack Price for more information: jprice@studiofilm.co.uk
