Somerset hosts an incredible theatre community bubbling with diverse and exciting talent. However Somerset's theatre infrastructure is fragile and real, grassroots issues often hinder individuals and companies from remaining resilient, fed, connected and supported.

The new Take Art initiative BARN, supported by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, has been set up to resource Somerset's theatre-makers to take real risks, build resilience and sustain their practice, artistically and financially.

BARN will run between 2017 and 2019 and offer a range of activity and support, including an ideas fund for new work, research and development residencies, work in progress and showcase platforms, professional business support, signposting and networking.
