The Hip Yak Poetry Shack @ The Yeovil Literary Festival

12 September 2013

Just back from a hugely successful run at WOMAD Festival and the Frome Festival, the ramshackle, interactive, comedy-poetry cabaret will be coming to The Octagon Theatre Cafe Bar in Yeovil to spread a little quirky, quality poetry joy. Show starts at 8pm!

Described by The West End Centre in Aldershot as 'as thrilling and invigorating as rock 'n' roll', The Hip Yak Poetry Shack stars top names from the UK stand-up poetry scene and lead artists from Word/Play, The Thing Is..., including Chris Redmond (just back from a month run at Edinburgh Fringe), Jonny Fluffypunk (sustainable nihilist and comedy and poetry circuit legend) and Liv Torc (former Bard of Exeter and winner of Radio 4 SW slam).

The event will include a short performance from participants involved in Take Art's recent spoken word project Word/Play: The Thing Is...

Local poets will also be invited to take part in the yakety yak slam, so please contact info@hipyakpoetryshack.co.uk if you want to sign up!

This event is supported by Take Art and The Octagon Theatre and is taking place as part of Yeovil's first ever Literary Festival. For more information please visit www.octagon-theatre.co.uk
