The Rural Touring Dance Initiative Phase 3 - Here we come!

26 July 2022

The Rural Touring Dance Initiative has always been a project very close to our hearts. We're excited to share the good news that the project has just received national funding of £400,000 from Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and £450,000 from Arts Council England, so we can continue with Phase 3.

Lead partner The Place will continued to work with main partners Take Art and National Rural Touring Forum. We will be joined by new partners, Highlights and Sonia Sabri Company for phase 3, to bring high quality dance to rural audiences across the UK.

As well as supporting 10 new associate venues to bring dance to rural areas and market towns, the funding will enable RTDI to support eight dance artists & companies per year to tour their work to rural areas, with over 200 performances and 90 workshops expected between autumn 2023 and summer 2026.

The partners will shortly be announcing details of a call out for artists to take part in RTDI. Artists with dance performances, available to tour autumn 2023 and spring 2024, are invited to apply via The Place’s website before 5 September 2022.
