Training and support for Somerset theatre practitioners

Led by Mark Helyar, who has considerable experience in project planning, strategic management and fundraising, these training events offer a friendly environment for to share challenges and creative solutions.

Skill Up 1: Project Planning   ***STOP PRESS this event has now been postponed, Skill Up 2 is still running on 5 Feb see below
Fri 22 Jan | 10am - 5pm
Through practical exercises, peer learning and case studies, this training event is designed to help steer people through the basic steps of project planning: prioritising skills and strengths; discovering potential markets for work; identifying tools and resources; and navigating potential obstacles and pitfalls.

Skill Up 2: Funding Refresher
Fri 5 Feb | 10am - 5pm
This training event will help people who want to explore prospective funding and investment opportunities for their work. It will cover areas such as building an effective case for financial support; identifying potential project partners; gaining an overview of public funding, trusts and foundations, crowd-funding and other examples of individual giving. It will also include a session on writing Grants for the Arts applications to Arts Council England.

Both events will take place in Take Art's large comfortable meeting room, Flaxdrayton Farm, South Petherton TA13 5LR. The cost is £40 per event or £60 for both; £20 per event or £30 for both for Under-25s or people on low income. Early booking is advised by emailing sarah@takeart.org


Nuts & Bolts Advice Surgeries
These FREE sessions are available for theatre makers who would like one-to-one advice on project planning, funding or any other specific areas of support.
