We're Dancing Into Summer

25 May 2023

Spring Forward 2023 might be over but our Take Art Dance team is busy planning our next event. Read on to hear about our upcoming Spring Forward Takeover and the exciting opportunity on Our Turn.

The Spring Forward Takeover

We are delighted to have been asked to bring our Spring Forward Takeover to The Brewhouse in Taunton, on Saturday 10th June as part of the TYCA Festival by Arts Taunton. Six youth groups from across Taunton, Bridgwater and Yeovil will take to the stage showcasing their chosen contemporary and lyrical pieces that they originally performed earlier this year for Spring Forward.

This free event is just one of many taking place throughout the day. For more information, please click here.

Spring Forward 2023 Gallery - McMillan Theatre

The beautiful professional pictures captured at The McMillan Theatre by Len Copland are here! You can view them via this link. If you haven't yet, make sure you read the interview we've done with Len here.

We've also shared our own shots of all three events on our Facebook page, so if you haven't seen them yet do check them out here. Don't forget to "Like" and "Follow" while you're there! :)

Our Turn

We are looking to recruit an Assistant Dance Artist to work with us on the Our Turn project.

The Assistant Dance Artist will liaise with the Lead Dance Artist and project lead at Take Art to support the planning and delivery of regular weekly sessions for Year 2 of the project. They'll help clarify the structure and content of the sessions, and discuss any additional resources i.e.equipment and materials, if appropriate.

The Assistant Dance Artist will be responsible for supporting the lead dance artist, volunteers and participants during the sessions and taking registers, collecting any class fees, undertaking evaluation and collating any relevant information to send back to Take Art. They will also be responsible for leading the social time activities following the dance session on a weekly basis.

For more information and to apply, click here. To see what our sessions are like, view our trailer below.

Rural Touring Dance Initiative

New for this 3rd phase of the Rural Touring Dance Initiative is the Associate Venue programme. This gives us the opportunity to work with venues in urban hubs within rural areas to develop their audiences alongside our rural touring menu. There are 9 venues nationwide, with 3 here in the South-West.

  • Strike-a-light, Gloucester
  • Weston College, Weston-super-Mare
  • Academy of Music and Theatre Arts (AMATA), Falmouth

Each venue will host two RTDI performances a year and will work with RTDI to create opportunities for their local communities too. We’re planning projects with young dancers, schools and community producers in Gloucester and dance students, youth theatre groups and local families in Weston and Falmouth. Stay tuned for updates!

Little Big Dance

Stayed tuned as details of the next Little Big Dance tour by Xenia Aidonopoulou will be announced on our website later this month! All we can say now is that you'll love it!
