Take Art are really delighted to launch the third year of this seed fund (deadline 15th Nov). Its purpose is to help the theatre, dance and performance sectors in Somerset to grow.

Poets from Word/Play, The Thing Is... will be performing on Saturday 21 September at The Octagon Theatre in Yeovil, as part of The Hip Yak Poetry Shack and the Yeovil Literary Festival.

Somerset Film and Video have put together four short documentary films taken from Word/Play: The Thing Is... Each documentary focuses on a different group of participants and their adventures in spoken word. You can watch the films here!

After the success of inspirED’s secondary school Drama Festival which took place on 26th June at The Merlin Theatre, Frome we are now looking forward to scheduling the 2014 Drama Festival for inspirED subscribing schools!

Take Art Theatre is delighted that 12 people have successfully applied to participate in the Word/Play forum theatre residential training programme next month. We will all now be retreating to the beautiful countryside around the Magdalen Project, Chard, for three days in July and to Beaford Arts Centre, North Devon, for two days in August.

Stop Press: This is happening at very short notice, but Take Art Theatre is very excited to be working with Contact Manchester and the National Rural Touring Forum (NRTF) to support the Somerset development week of new show An Audience Without You.

Over the last three months eight of the UKs top Performance Poets have been working with four groups of service users from Chard, Taunton, Yeovil and Frome to help them discover their inner poet and rediscover their self-confidence.

This is devastating news for Taunton and Somerset residents, the Brewhouse staff, artists, companies and the whole of the county.

A two-year theatre and spoken word project for Somerset entitled Word/Play, has been given the green light thanks to £75,000 support from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, one of the largest independent grant making foundations in England, and a further £17,000 from the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales.
