KinderGardens Festival 2014 takes place at venues across Somerset from 19 May to 4 June.
KinderGardens is a biennial festival organised by Take Art, renowned for showcasing the best in international Early Years theatre, presented in a rural context, where under fives, their families and artists get to see great performances across the county specially made for them. This year's KinderGardens kicked off on Monday 19 May with Birdsnest Theatre at Sydenham Children's Centre in Bridgwater, in three magical performances of their brand new show Wash.
On Sunday Compagnie Ubi arrived from France eager to unveil their fabulous, newly commissioned show Geminus to Somerset audiences on Tuesday and Wednesday. As we had co-commissioned this show with our Anglo-French DD2 partners, we couldn't wait to see the finished piece too, having seen the work in development. Along with the children, teachers, parents and carers in the audiences at this week's four performances of Geminus, we were all held enthralled!
Ubi are now touring elsewhere in the UK but return to Somerset for six more performance of Geminus from Mon 2 June to Wed 4 June; click here to see details. Be sure not to miss this enchanting, playful and intriguing piece, which touches on themes of identity and reflection, and has been especially made for ages 3 to 5. There is a related CPD training workshop for teachers and Early Years practitioners, on Mon 2 June at Butleigh, exploring themes from the show.
KinderGardens wraps up on Wed 4 June with Norwich Puppet Theatre's performance of Three Colours for 2-5 year-olds, at Taunton School's pre-prep hall. This highly visual and exciting show places you and your children at the centre of the experience, gently drawing you into wonderful imaginary landscapes where you can swim with fish, feel frogs nibble your toes, catch grasshoppers and listen to a gentle heartbeat… all magically created out of the colours of light. For details please click here. The company will be leading a CPD training workshop for Early Years teachers and practitioners on 4 June: Colours and Lights In Early Years.
