The Arts Council Release Guidelines for their Emergency Funding Package

02 April 2020

The Guidelines

Ensuring the people and organisations in our cultural sector are protected during the Covid-19 crisis is the Arts Council's number one priority. Therefore they are trying to ensure that people and organisations in our cultural sector are protected during the Covid-19 crisis and have now published guidance for the emergency funds they've developed to support individuals and organisations outside of their National Portfolio.

National Lottery Project Grants

ACE believe these emergency response funds are essential, but they don’t come without cost. In order to release the money for them, they took the difficult decision last week to suspend several of our funding streams, including National Lottery Project Grants and Developing Your Creative Practice. They know this has been distressing news for many of you.

Therefore they have held back around £57 million, more than half of their National Lottery Project Grants budget for 2020-21, so they can restore National Lottery Project Grants at the earliest opportunity. At that point, they will welcome resubmission of revised applications that have fallen by the wayside as a result of this crisis.

ACE's CEO, Darren Henley, has written a blog to share more behind why the Art Council has to make this difficult decision.
